What You Should Look For When Applying for a Position as a Nanny or Daycare Facilitator
Interviews can be a bit nerve-racking, but keep in mind that it is a two-way street. While our head of Human Resources is friendly and intelligible, they are looking for specific traits and qualifications in every person they interview. What does this mean? It means you should be looking for qualities and traits in the daycare centre which are close to your heart too. Here are a few things to consider:
- What hours are you looking for and what is available?
Many teachers are still working on their higher education, or have young families to take care of so time may be an important factor to consider. Are you looking for full-time or part-time work?
- Is the school a right fit for your disciplinary procedures?
What kind of teacher are you? Are you a gentle nurturer or are you strict and tough? If a child acts up in class, do you put them in time-out, do you scold them or do you discipline them by some other means? More importantly, how does the school discipline the students?
- Is there segregation between management and the staff, or is everyone considered “family” at the school?
This was something that I always held very near and dear to my heart. I don’t want to go to a school where politics are in play all the time and I have to figure out who to be the nicest to on the management team. I feel that everyone should be treated equally, whether it is the nanny, the security guard or the principal. Finding a school that doesn’t play politics will help your fulfillment and joy in the long run.
- What is your nurturing style?
Schools often offer different nurturing or teaching styles depending on the class, the level of students and the school’s culture. Are you someone who likes to get in and play with the children while teaching them, or do you like to keep a watchful eye without directly participating?
After considering all these facts, and if everything feels right so far and is in alignment with your personal and professional values, then you can more rightly decide whether or not becoming a daycare facilitator at Little Human Scholars is the right thing for you.

First things first: there are three positions available at Little Human Scholars:
- Daycare Facilitator
- Nanny 1
- Nanny 2
All of these positions are available and Little Human Scholars is very picky about the quality of people they hire. For example, every teacher must have a nurturing attitude towards the children, and be willing to get down on each child’s “level” and play/engage with them. Little Human Scholars is NOT a government school, and therefore requires teachers that love children and play with them.
Another key to note when applying is that Little Human Scholars prides itself on starting classes on time. This means that all the teachers need to be punctual, committed and healthy.
Where many daycare centres merely oversee babies in their facilities, this is where Little Human Scholars differs from the rest: they not only take an active interest in your baby’s development, but they do so in a tender, nurturing and safe environment that stimulates growth.
Little Human Scholars is a boutique preschool, playschool, daycare, nursery and kindergarten in PJ located near University Hospital, Jaya One, Jaya33, PJ Old Town and PJ New Town. Each year, Little Human Scholars school grows and expands.
