It’s a known condition that children, when they start daycare or school for the first time, tend to fall ill more frequently than they did hanging out at home with mommy or daddy.
Typically, the symptoms range from the sniffles, to coughing, phlegm and more. This tends to be the norm when a child starts preschool, kindergarten or even when they join a new daycare centre! Why is this so? Why do children seem to fall sick when they start a new school?
For one, if they were raised at home by parents, grandparents or nannies, chances are they weren’t exposed to other germs from outside their environment. As such, their little immune systems are suddenly exposed to a new environment and are forced to respond to the new germs and viruses they were previously exposed to.
Put one child with a group of others, all from different backgrounds and cultures (as seen in many schools and daycare centres in PJ), and suddenly it feels as if your child is falling ill every other week!
The way I personally see it, my kiddo falling sick wasn’t a bad thing at all – in fact, introducing them to a new environment built up her little immune system. When we traveled back to the States to visit family, her immune system was tip top! Between airports, long flights, and public restrooms, she was healthy as a horse!
That being said, we did take the time to set her up for success. We did practice illness prevention so that she didn’t fall as ill when she started school. After all, the best way to treat illness is to prevent it altogether.
Tips to Support Your Child’s Immune System When They Start School
- Put your child in a school which practices daily sanitisation and hygiene.
Make sure you find out if your school or daycare centre in PJ practices a daily sanitisation regime, ensure they clean daily, and disinfect EVERYTHING in the school! It also isn’t a bad practice to have at home!
- Get a flu shot.
Whether for yourself or your kiddos, a flu shot does elude individuals from the illness. While everyone else is experiencing runny noses, coughs, fevers and the like, you will be sitting pretty and healthy unaffected by it all!
- Wash your hands…A LOT!
Our family washes their hands before every meal and after using the restroom, and definitely before we eat. While some families are fans of hand sanitizer, we prefer the good old-fashioned method of washing our hands with antibacterial soap.
If your child is in school or is getting ready to start school, you may want to get them in the habit of washing their hands now. Little Human Scholars kindergarten, preschool and daycare centre in PJ is adamant about getting the children to wash their hands before and after every meal, after every bathroom break and even after outdoor playtime!
- Sanitise at least once a day!
At Little Human Scholars, they santise their whole centre and all the toys at the end of each day to minimise the passing of germs.
And whether you are looking for childcare for a 2-month-old, or for full day care with meals and transportation included, or just a simple half-day school Monday through Friday, Little Human Scholars kindergarten, playschool, preschool and full-day daycare centre is one school that truly caters to their students AND the parents while keeping everyone happy and healthy!
Finding a preschool and kindergarten that takes sanitization seriously and makes washing hands a regular happenstance is crucial not just for your child, but for all the students, teachers and for your health as well!
About Little Human Scholars School and Full Day Daycare Centre in PJ
Little Human Scholars is an all-in-one childcare solution. It is a preschool, playschool, kindergarten, nursery and full day daycare centre (with extended hours) located in the heart of PJ.
In fact, the location is one of the things which makes Little Human Scholars so sought after – it is conveniently nestled near Jalan Gasing, University hospital, PJ Old town, PJ New town, Jaya One, Jaya33, and the PJ IT Mall.
The best part is LHS has premiere services many other schools in PJ don’t offer such as full-day daycare with extended hours, CCTV access for parents, and a nifty little phone app called Toddlytic which provides parents with automatic updates on their child’s development, behaviour and health checks.
With full-time guards always present at each of their locations, access to CCTV (which is in every room except the office, bathroom and kitchen areas), and very strict pick-up and drop-off rules, Little Human Scholars treats every child who walks into its hallways as one of their own children!
This place has it all: location, safety, health, IGSCE curriculum and play-based learning. What more could you ask for? Did I mention they also have transportation services and offer meal plans for students? It doesn’t get any better than that.
If you are interested in a tour of one of our centres (that’s right, there’s more than one), all you need to do is fill out the form here or call +6017-7303-025 and an LHS administrative staff will get back with you shortly!
Cheers,
