Getting your child to love learning isn’t difficult – it is simply a process whereby you find out what their learning style is, what their interests are, and applying it in a way where education is fun for them!

  1. Figure Out Your Child’s Learning Style.

There are several learning styles of children, but the three we focus on are auditor, kinesthetic and visual.  Here is a brief overview of these learning styles and figuring out which style your child has.  Keep in mind, they may overlap into one or all of these styles.

Auditory – they like talking, socialising, and typically have lots of friends.  They often learn best by saying things out loud and by vocalising their lessons.

Visual – children who are visual like to sit back and watch others before doing something.  They typically have one or two close friends and learn best by visual stimulation.
Kinesthetic – children who are kinesthetic like to feel and work with their hands.  They learn best by doing rather than sitting and listening.

As a parent, you may already know which learning style(s) your child has.  If not, a simple conversation with your child’s teacher or principal will help shed a little light on their style!  Once you know this, you can move onto step two on your journey to get your child to love learning.

  1. What Are Their Interests?

After understanding their learning style, now it’s time to figure out their interests.  What do they play with and what do they do during recess or free-play time?  Do they run to play with cars or dolls?  Would they rather play on the swing set?  Or do they prefer coloring?  Make a list of their interests and what they play with.

  1. Apply Their Learning Style, Interests and Lesson Plan Into a Learning Routine.

This may take a little creative thinking, but it works wonders in the long run.  For example, if your child is auditory and they like playing board games, make their lesson plan into a board game and have them talk out their science lesson!

If they are kinesthetic and like playing with playdough, take them to the playground and have them shape out five doggies and practice maths.

If they are visual and like coloring, have them color out their letters.

There are unlimited ways to get your child to love learning – this is one technique which has worked very well for our school in PJ!

About Little Human Scholars Kindergarten in PJ

Little Human Scholars is an all-in-one childcare solution.  It is a preschool, playschool, kindergarten, nursery and full day daycare centre (with extended hours) located in the heart of PJ.

In fact, the location is one of the things which makes Little Human Scholars so sought after – it is conveniently nestled near Jalan Gasing, University hospital, PJ Old town, PJ New town, Jaya One, Jaya33, and the PJ IT Mall.

The best part is LHS has premiere services many other schools in PJ don’t offer such as full-day daycare with extended hours, CCTV access for parents, and a nifty little phone app called Toddlytic which provides parents with automatic updates on their child’s development, behaviour and health checks.

With full-time guards always present at each of their locations, access to CCTV (which is in every room except the office, bathroom and kitchen areas), and very strict pick-up and drop-off rules, Little Human Scholars treats every child who walks into its hallways as one of their own children!

This place has it all:  location, safety, health, IGSCE curriculum and play-based learning.  What more could you ask for?  Did I mention they also have transportation services and offer meal plans for students?  It doesn’t get any better than that.

If you are interested in a tour of one of our centres (that’s right, there’s more than one), all you need to do is fill out the form here or call +6017-7303-025 and an LHS administrative staff will get back with you shortly!

Cheers,
